About Us
Built in 1977 the Club was originally known as The South Bucks Squash Club. In those days offering 7 squash courts together with changing and social facilities the Club bore little resemblance to the 2011 version. It had a good name for squash however and the World’s top coaches and players used the Club during the 70’s and 80’s when it was the fastest growing sport in the UK. World Champion, New Zealander Susan Devoy was based at the Club throughout this period.
Businessmen Bruce Wolf and Tony Jacobs acquired the Club in the mid 80’s and in 1986 made massive changes. In essence, anticipating the decline of squash, they converted the Club into a state of the art gym and fitness facility, which was called The Oasis. It featured a multi-level gymnasium and small outdoor swimming pool.
The current owners are The Really Fine Leisure Co. Ltd (RFL). RFL is a small organisation with about 40 shareholders. The Company runs The Marlow Club and The Windsor Club as well as having other small interests in sports and fitness clubs. You may well run into Steve Lewis, Dave Costard or Jon Williams around the Club. Each of them is a shareholder in RFL and they are engaged by the Company to run The Marlow Club and to ensure that it stays at the leading edge of the health and fitness industry in the UK.
A major refurbishment programme began in 2005 which included the new swimming pool and ‘The Oasis’ became ‘The Marlow Club’ on the opening of the new facilities in January 2006. Since then the Club has grown in popularity. The Club and its owners have a philosophy of ‘constant never ending improvement’. This requires large amounts of capital investment keeping the Club fresh and exciting for its Members who constantly introduce new people to us.
Recent improvements include a general refurbishment of the main studio and reception area, introduction of the Milon fitness circuit (a UK first) and the Freedom Climber (rotating climbing wall), the Aquarino post-exercise hydration drinks system (another UK first), brand new top of the range TechnoGym equipment, InsideOut an outdoor functional training area and refurbishment of our shower facilities.

expect the highest quality service. Our team of Duty Managers, qualified coaches and Personal Trainers ensure
that you make the most of your visits to The Marlow Club.
